What to look for
Termite damage is often hidden, but there are signs that may indicate activity:
Mud tubes
Thin, dirt-like tunnels on foundation walls, sill plates, or support beams that termites use to travel between soil and wood.
Hollow or damaged wood
Wood that sounds hollow or shows internal tunnelling may indicate termites feeding from the inside out.
Blistering paint
Paint that bubbles or blisters can be caused by moisture related to termite activity behind the surface.
Discarded wings
During swarming season, typically April to mid-June in the GTA, discarded wings near windows or light sources can be an early warning sign.
